KYLER BADTEN

Conservation Photographer

As the son of a scuba diver and Steve Irwin finatic, Kyler grew up mesmerized by the natural world introduced by the Crocodile Hunter, and was fascinated by his father’s stories of diving remote islands in the South Pacific. At the age of 15, he received his 1st PADI scuba certification and has since dived tropical waters around the world.

After moving to Hawai’i in 2013 to pursue a degree in marine science at Hawai’i Pacific University, Kyler found his passion in underwater photography. and realized how film and photos could be used as a tool for communicating science and conservation messages in a tangible way that the general public can understand.

Kyler has gone on to start Terracene, LLC, a clothing and photography company that focuses on inspiring, educating, and creating call to action for some of the ocean’s most pressing issues like plastic pollution and the decimation of shark populations.
